Sobre nosotros

Conociendo al Cazón

We aim to foster ocean awareness in coastal communities by combining etnobiology knowledge with education and art. By teaching responsible fishing practices, exploring alternatives to shark fishing, and highlighting the importance of coastal conservation, we support both the protection of marine life and the resilience of local livelihoods.

La historia

The first stage, running from 2020 during the COVID pandemic to June 2024, focuses on delivering community-based educational activities in vulnerable fishing towns in Margarita island (southern Caribbean coast), where livelihoods often depend on shark fishing, are at the heart of Proyecto Tintorera—an initiative designed to build a deeper understanding of the shared habitat between people and sharks.

"Through hands-on workshops and community dialogue, we create a bridge between traditional knowledge and marine science, empowering fishermen to become stewards of their own coastal ecosystems."
